2012 has been the year of international street races! This summer is full of tons of events, and Fixed Fest is up on the list. Walton, and Chas will fly out in July, and get to race with athletes from around the world, all converging on Jakarta! Look for more updates as the event draws closer. Next look for updates from London, and The Hunt Crit!

Enclosed are more images from yesterday’s race here at the shop.
John is back in Austin, but posted a race essay at P.I.N.P. Check in for the full set.

Al made us maps, and spoke cards for the event. MASH continues to happen because of a group of friends who want it to be great. We thank you all.

Racers ready?

We took over the street in front of the shop. Was nice to stretch out, and use the stoops as bleachers for the event.

SF Skate Spots Qualifier

Kyle won this race last year, so he had to work extra hard to shake out of towers off his wheel.

Chas worked behind the scenes routing this race, and many of our racers worked checkpoints. Thank you all for helping make this another one for the books!

Chas and Walton are heading to London to race The Hunt. Have a great trip! Send updates!

Last weekend was a bit of a blur. Non stop racing for four days in a row, tons of friends in town visiting, and we could not have asked for better weather. John was in town shooting the events, and we are happy to share his efforts here. Check in with him, and all the collections from the weekend at P.I.N.P

Chas on the berm

This is increadible! Trimble beating Chas (on foot) by a half bike length. Awesome!

Walton added some special effects to the final race of the day. Who hasn’t dreamt of having a smoke screen feature on your bike? 2012

Yesterday we hosted the second annual Twin Peaks race, and now realize it should have been the Triple Peaks race. Chas designed the race format, and gave his friends no mercy this year. The qualifier was in alley cat format, with six checkpoints consisting of legendary SF skate spots. This was a great way for visitors to take a guck city loop to warm up. This field was cut in half from the qualifier, then remaining racers lined up again for the final. Road and fixed raced in separate categories, but starting together. The formats ended up making for a tuff city race, and gave all the locals and visitors a strong race at the end of the non-stop weekend. Enclosed are some details Nick shot. more info below.

Nick Kova posted up, and shot these photos from along the route. Check in with him HERE.

Walton took first fixed at the MASH anniversary race yesterday. Dude didn’t even break a sweat! Here’s walt flaring in style at ice cream Monday.

Last night freestylers, and racers met at Mezzanine here in SF to set qualifying times for Saturday’s Ride+Style event. A great deal of effort has been put in leading up to the event, and riders from around the world came out to put a time down on the miniature velodrome, and scream at their friends. Enclosed are a few images from the qualifier. Look for updates all weekend, as races are happening everyday until Sunday.

Steve T locked in, and trying to make the most of this qualifier.

There was a signup for time slots, so Chas was able to work for TCB, and jump in for 10 minutes while on the clock. The smell of curry coming from his bag made everyone hungry.

Gurney as Camera bag staging area

Austin has raced most of these mini races, so he had no problem hoping on, and setting a quick time with 700c wheels.

Keo kept the crowd updated throughout the night.

The reality of these miniature ovals is they are hard to be taken seriously. Someone on a 20inch BMX could have easily taken home the race winnings last night. Walton borrowed a freestyle bike to help him qualify in the top 10.

David Trimble is in town to hang out, so it has been really nice to hear about some of the events he has coming up. Real beast stuff!

Hernan put on the skin suit when it came down to the brackets. Game face.

Walton quickly learned the DJ took requests, so for the remainder of the night it was UGK. Colin arranged a camera phone portrait sitting with the subject at this moment.

You have to stop at some point.

More credentialed press.

This qualifier list was shot, then errors were caught. Check the RB site for more up to date info regarding Saturday’s freestyle contest, and mini race finals.
Tonight SF GREEN SERIES is hosting a race. Come out!

Sunday is going to be a blast. The weather looks to be incredible, and with so many friends in from out of town, we expect this race to bring out a highly competitive group.
Format: Racers will register on site Sunday starting at noon, and will head out for the qualifier at 1pm sharp. Based on the turnout, we will announce the quantity of slots open for fixed, and geared racers to qualify to the final. There will be preems on the qualifier, so come win some warm up money. Once racers have returned, qualified racers will be announced. After a 45min rest, racers that advanced to the final will be sent out a second time to race a new route that includes more climbing and descending. After all round two racers have returned we will award top 3 fixed, top 3 road, and first female. We have 1000$ cash, and prizes from Incase, full race kits from Capo, and some more schwa, so come take it from us!
NOTE: fixed racers with brakes will need to race in the road category this year. We encourage you all to race within your ability, and to have fun. In the end, it is about winning a smile.
See you out!
